One of the most frequent questions we get is “how much does a timber frame cost?” This is a lot like asking “how much does a car cost?” As with a car, there are lots of different varieties of timber frames as well as different options and embellishments. And yes, there are even “used” timber frames. All of our custom timber frames are designed to suit your individually tastes and needs. During the design phase of your project we optimize the frame configuration and frame type to meet your budget while maintaining the look and feel you are seeking.  Long story short, we need you to tell us more about your dream timber frame before we can tell you more about how much it will cost. So before the pricing even begins you should try to define as best as possible what your frame will look like. Don’t worry about getting everything defined as we will assist and guide you through the design process, but ultimately you will need to tell us what suits you.

Caveats aside, we realize that even before a project can be designed rough budgets need to be considered. Over the years, we have found that our frames range in prices from $15 to $35 per square foot. We also install structural insulated panels as a part of frame and panel packages. Pricing for panels varies with type, the cost of materials, and perhaps most of all panel optimization in your initial design. This is one of the reasons we encourage all of our clients to get us involved as early as possible in the design phase so that we can best advise you and/or your architect on how to optimize the frame and panels.   A rough budget for your frame and panel package ranges from $45 to $80 per square foot.

The best way we can estimate your timber frame costs is for you to contact us so don’t hesitate to call or email us about your project. Let us share our passion for the art and craft of timber framing and help you build your dream today.
